Jill and Marty
"I met my husband almost two years ago using Yahoo! Personals. I started to browse the site to see what was out there, never expecting to write to anyone, but then I saw my husband's ad. After reading about other success stories I decided to just try it once. We started emailing and soon decided to meet. Seven months after we first met we were engaged. In my mind it is the best way to meet your mate. It was great to be brought together by mutual interests and great conversation, instead of by a face at the bar."
"Marty heard from a co-worker that it was a fun way to meet other singles since he was new to the area. Honestly I started looking as a joke, but found his ad very sincere and adorable, then I read the personal testimonies and was very touched by many of them, so I decided to just try and contact him. We spent about a week emailing to learn the basics about each other. We then took it to the phone where our first conversation lasted about four hours. From these conversations we knew that we could be great friends. We then decided to meet and once we knew there was also a physical attraction it took off from there."
"I was nervous about the first date, after all of our conversations I was confident he was everything that he had introduced himself as, but having never tried online dating I was a bit skeptical. I wanted to meet at a public place, so we met at a restaurant. We had exchanged photographs, but I was very nervous that I wouldn't recognize him. We quickly found each other as he told me he would be wearing a green shirt. We kept talking so much that our server started to get anxious with us because we were not ordering. We just couldn't look down to read the menus. After we ordered and ate our meal and continued to talk until, unknown to us, the restaurant was empty. Our simple dinner ended up lasting five and a half hours, and it seemed like an instant."
"We became engaged after seven months of dating. Our parents were not surprised. They knew it was coming - it was evident to all how much we loved each other. Some of our friends call our relationship a fairy tale. We got married ten months after the engagement. Since we both grew up and love the Northern Minnesota area, we got married there. My dad surprised us with a horse-drawn carriage to carry us from the church to the reception. We took a honeymoon to Mexico where the highlight of the trip was Marty's decision to surprise me and take me to swim with the dolphins."
