Gerry and Dorothy
A year and a half ago, my wife Dorothy and I met on Yahoo! Personals. Neither of us had ever tried searching online for that special person. We were both divorced and in our early 50s. Fortunately, we both decided to join Yahoo! and begin looking at about the same time. Our first few Yahoo! emails led to phone calls. The calls led to ... well, the rest is history. We finally met, dated, enjoyed a six-month engagement, and we'll shortly be celebrating our first wedding anniversary. We've never been happier. Thanks Yahoo! for helping to make our ultimate dream come true.
We emailed every day for a couple of weeks. Then we talked on the phone every evening, for about two weeks. We TALKED and TALKED, and the more we shared the more we realized just how much we had in common. It was spooky. And it was wonderful. Neither of us ever imagined it was even possible to find someone who was such a perfect match.
We met the first time at a nearby Starbucks. We sat on the tailgate of my truck and talked for about three hours. It was a warm summer evening. The next night we actually went out on our first date. We shared a wonderful Italian dinner in a very nice local restaurant. We did a little browsing and shopping at the mall, then drove over to Dorothy's for dessert and more talking. (Yes, we did behave ourselves.)
I think I was more nervous than Dorothy was. She was very composed. And it was quickly apparent to both of us that we had found someone very special. Our compatibility was obvious, and it was so natural for us to be together. And since we both have a great sense of humor, we always have fun, no matter what we're doing. Since both of us had been married previously, we were determined to do it right this time.
"We have already enthusiastically encouraged several friends and acquaintances to try Yahoo! Personals. At first, both family and friends were appalled that we had met on the Internet. But in our opinion, you can meet a bum anywhere, even in church. On Yahoo! Personals we were able screen potential dates, and make a careful decision about whether to talk on the phone or meet in person. We agree that it's actually safer and more effective to meet someone through Yahoo! Personals than anywhere we can think of."
