Our intrepid dating reporter asks…

What's the funniest or strangest thing you've done on a first date?

Monica, Orlando, Fla. Monica, 27, Orlando, Fla.

On a first date this guy and I got manicures together. I have never done that with a guy. I told him to meet me at the manicurist, not get a manicure with me! I never called him again after that.
Alexander, Washington, D.C. Alexander, 31, Washington, D.C.

I set myself on fire. I was at a cafe table across from my date, and in the processes of telling a story (with obligatory gesticulation, of course). Unfortunately, something distracted both of us, and when I looked back, my sleeve (which had stopped directly over the candle) had caught on fire. This kind of thing happens to me on a regular basis. So, I reached across the table for his beer -- mine was empty -- and extinguished myself. Strangely, his cell phone rang not thirty seconds later, and he fled the incendiary scene to deal with an alleged "family emergency."
Wendy, Lawrence, Kan. Wendy, 35, Lawrence, Kan.

Michael and I had our first date in San Francisco while on a photo shoot for Yahoo! Personals. Now that was pretty strange! Other than that, boys need to get a little more inventive. I can't think of anything that stands out as funny or strange.
Eric, 26, Orlando, Fla. Eric, 26, Orlando, Fla.

Forgot to mention the fact that I already had a girlfriend.
Tammy, Raleigh, N.C. Tammy, 34, Raleigh, N.C.

Got food poisoning and really sick, if you know what I mean.
Josh, North Wales, Pa. Josh, 25, North Wales, Pa.

I excused myself to use the restroom after noticing my fingernails were a bit to long. I ran outside the restaurant and next door to a gas station and purchased nail clippers. I clipped my nails and returned with her none the wiser.
Kathryn, 34, Northville, Mich. Kathryn, 34, Northville, Mich.

I don't think it's strange, but a ballroom dancing lesson! It was one of the best first dates ever! (Good thing I liked him!)
Tim, Springtown, Texas Tim, 41, Springtown, Texas

There was one time I knew my date was a big coffee lover. So instead of bringing flowers along to give to her, I brought a special roasted bag of coffee. She loved it and I earned points!
Sylvia, Kingsville, Texas Sylvia, 37, Kingsville, Texas

I went on a first date with a co-worker and it was my idea to go to a sports bar so that I could watch Monday Night Football (the Dallas Cowboys were playing) and he told me he didn't watch sports.
Brocke, Lakeland, Mo. Brocke, 54, Lakeland, Mo.

Got on the Harley and rode around the lake. Watched a couple of movies and talked until about dawn. Went to a field trial or to a horse show.
Michael, Lockport, N.Y. Michael, 37, Lockport, N.Y.

I had to use the Heimlich maneuver on a person who collapsed at the table next to us. Heck we got our meal paid for!
